About Us: PHP4 Climate Action

PHP4 Climate Action, in partnership with Green 13, are 2 of your most active local environmental groups. We are mostly Ward 4 residents who have undertaken many local programs and events relating to climate awareness and action.

Our Program: Inspired by Success

Our method builds on the successful model developed in another Toronto neighbourhood, the Pocket, (Pocket Change model), and has support from Toronto Home Retrofits and 350.org.   We will be holding introductory/informative events in Parkdale-High Park, primarily at homes with experience in retrofits.

Small actions can create big ripples. Each one of us has the power to make a difference in building a sustainable future.

Some background FACTS:

  • Climate change is caused by carbon pollution

  • Carbon pollution is largely caused by burning fossil fuel

  • 56% of Toronto's carbon pollution is from buildings ... largely from natural gas used to heat space and water

  • Single-family homes produce 17% of Toronto's carbon pollution

  • Ontario's electricity production is currently about 87% non-carbon polluting

  • Cold Climate - Air Source Heat Pumps are significantly more efficient than gas furnaces. Most Toronto homeowners with CC-ASHP do not require a supplemental heating source
